Surfs up!

No single artwork I have ever created has challenged me like this one. Initially I loved the idea and started to create, but came across many stumbling blocks that really pushed me to explore using paint in different ways and where the dots could or couldn’t work. I reworked the Waves over and over again, until we get to this point, where I am so happy with the outcome.

My original plan was for 1 surfer, however then discovered a dolphin in my collection and it was just too perfect not to add in.

This whole artwork is based on one of my favourite artworks ‘The Great Wave’ by Hokusai. I have changed the context from Hokusai’ version and brought it into the 21st century.

Finished in a Black wood grain frame with UV perspex ready to hang.

Signed in Pencil on the inside frame. Also signed and titled on reverse.
